Radiology Technologist position at FMOL Health.

Job Description

Performs radiologic exams and procedures. Provides patient privacy and confidentiality. Ensures efficient patient care consistent with infection control policies and OLOLRMC Standards for Service Excellence. Safely operates radiologic equipment and maintains current knowledge of equipment operation.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care – Use consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from medical records, significant others and healthcare providers. Examine radiographic requisitions to verify accuracy by confirming the procedure requested or prescribed with the doctor’s written orders and completeness of information (e.g., patient history, clinical diagnosis, special instructions/comments). Confirm patient identity. Gather information pertinent to determining appropriate type and dosage of contrast agent to be administered to patient and evaluate risk of adverse reaction.

    Provide pre‑ and post‑procedural explanation and instruction to patient and/or patient’s family. Practice standard precautions and follow appropriate procedures when in contact with patient in isolation. Document required information in appropriate records.
  • Equipment Operation – Ensure all work areas and equipment are clean, disinfected and presentable. Dispose of contaminated items in exam room preparation. Efficiently and accurately use Radiology Information System and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Quality – Radiation Protection:
    Observe and adhere to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and departmental and hospital policies and procedures pertaining to area of responsibility. Take appropriate precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patient and to self. Wear a personnel monitoring device while on duty (ALARA). Image Production:
    Select equipment and accessories for requested examinations, as well as immobility devices for optimal image production. Evaluate radiographic images for diagnostic quality (positioning) and correct images, as well as process exposed images.
  • Other Duties – Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Perform duties of Radiology Transporter when necessary.
Qualifications
  • 2 years of clinical training in an AMA approved program.
  • Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training.
  • American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and current Louisiana Registered Radiologic license (LSRT). New Graduates – Registry Eligible for ARRT and current Louisiana Registered Radiologic license (LSRT) or current LSRT temp license and BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
