Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the repair and proper maintenance of all equipment and machinery in the shop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise the Maintenance Department employees including assigning work, hiring, firing, counseling and performance appraisals.
• Maintain and repair facility, plant and heavy equipment.
• Order supplies, equipment and spare parts necessary for proper operations.
• Communicate with other departments for scheduling maintenance or down time of equipment.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and small tools.
• Coordinate, install and set up of all new equipment.
• Communicate with vendors on pricing, availability and shipping.
• Train employees on the use of equipment and ensure employees are adequately trained on assigned job duties.
• Ensure employees comply with company policies, safety procedures and procedures manual.
• The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.

Qualifications

Minimum of 7 years’ experience running a maintenance department in a structural steel environment. Must be proficient in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and gas/diesel engines. Must have at least 5 years of supervisory experience. Excellent oral communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in the operation of equipment and vehicles

Physical Demands

Must have ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time. Job requires a great deal of stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and repetitive movements. Must be able to lift at least 100 pounds frequently, push and or/pull moderate to heavy loads. Exposed to work near electricity, moving parts, fumes and airborne particles. Exposed to temperature fluctuations and loud noise levels.
