Job Description
The Senior Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic that specializes in the modernization and repairing of cranes. This position may perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and upgrades; as well as solving complex problems when the crane malfunctions. This position requires self-sufficiency, leadership abilities, effective communication and professionalism in order to lead field technicians and be the liaison between HCSG management and customers.
The Technician position works in a safety-first environment. HCSG is a 24/7 service company that requires technicians to be available on-call and provide after-hour or weekend services as required due to customer needs.
- Must be able to be on-call and provide after hour services as required.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and upgrading industrial hoists and cranes in the field at customer locations.
- Train and mentor field technicians
- Perform OSHA required hoist and crane inspections and generate inspection reports and repair orders. Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager during the day so that work can be scheduled and completed on a daily basis.
- Consult with customers regarding all repair and safety related issues and discuss recommendations that will assist the customer with improving their services.
- Maintain all company issued equipment, vehicle, and assets in a safe and proper working order. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Notify immediate supervisor of any deficiencies.
- Maintain supply of HCSG forms and miscellaneous materials in the company vehicle.
- Maintain the ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Attend company provided trainings and seminars as required.
- Participate in HCSG 5 Marks program
- Other duties as assigned
- The work is labor intensive. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs daily; up to 100lbs on rare occasions.
- Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting and prolonged standing and sitting (approximately 90%).
- Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling; great hand and eye coordination; heights up to 50+ feet for crane maintenance.
- Travel from time to time (20-50%) and willingness to work various shifts, including on-call and overtime. Travel may be required at company discretion.
- Work is normally inside or outside depending on customer requirements.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.

- Minimum Qualifications:
At least 5-7 years of crane repair experience or 3-4 years electrical/mechanical experience in lieu of crane repair/maintenance - Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Pass pre-employment drug test and background check (DISA); submit to random and annual drug testing as required
- Basic computer skills to work with web-based crane inspection programs
- Ability to communicate well with others and work independently or as part of a team
- Knowledge of hand tools; ownership of hand tools preferred
- Vocational/Technical training certificate
