General Summary

Electronically or manually corrects claims that cannot be billed due to insufficient and/or incorrect information. Responsible for sending UB-92’s, 1500’s, 2360’s, 1443, and 2210’s either electronically or manually. Perform daily follow up on portfolio accounts.

Consistently demonstrates support of the RIC statement of Mission and Philosophy by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.

Principle Responsibilities

Bill governmental Payors primary claims either electronically or hard copy.

Bill appropriate governmental Payors secondary claims hard copy.

Respond to all business office rebill requests and bill when appropriate.

Maintain zero Medicare Rejects (RTP’s).

Monitor and control electronic claims transfers to third party Payors.

Maintain zero electronic/paper billing backlogs.

Submit billing forms to other governmental Payors on and as needed basis.

Submit daily follow-up and billing productivity reports according to guidelines set by the supervisor.

Performs other related duties as assigned by Management.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to Supervisor of PFS.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Previous governmental hospital billing experience.

Currently knowledge of governmental billing regulations.

Must maintain and keep up to date with governmental billing regulation changes.

Ability to quickly learn to bill specific financial classes/Payors.

Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Superior verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
