We have partnered with a growing construction company based in the Charlotte, NC area specializing in commercial projects across the Carolinas. The team values integrity, collaboration, and quality. We are looking for a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting operations and help keep the financial processes running smoothly.
Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant will play a key role in day‑to‑day accounting activities, job cost tracking, and financial reporting. This position requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including subcontractor invoices and customer billings
- Assist with job cost accounting, including tracking labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements
- Support payroll processing and verify job-site labor allocations
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and construction industry requirements
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and year-end close
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project financials
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (construction industry experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience with job cost accounting and WIP schedules is a plus
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, Quick Books, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
