Chorus Teacher

JOB SUMMARY:

This position instructs classes in band, orchestra or Chorus and assists students in the development of singing or instrumental techniques and music reading.

• Aligns instruction with the NC Essential Standards for Music and ensures a sequential course of study.
• Recognizes the various ways in which learning takes place and knows appropriate levels of intellectual, social and emotional development of their students.
• Establishes and maintains an orderly and supportive classroom environment in which students are actively participating and showing respect for one another and the teacher.
• Utilizes a variety of methods and adapts music instruction to benefit all students.
• Collaborates with other arts staff and assists classroom teachers in arts integration, alignment and cross-coordination of the curriculum.
• Collaborates with principals, colleagues, and feeder school music staff to ensure continuity in enrollment and continuation of the program.
• Works with Materials Management Inventory System staff to maintain an accurate inventory of musical equipment. Works to keep all instruments/or equipment in playing condition and free from maintenance.
