Primary Responsibilities
  • This position has technical responsibility for mechanical, macroscopic, and metallographic testing at all ATI Specialty Materials sites.
  • Provides technical support to the Laboratories with regard to equipment upgrades, maintenance, and outages.
  • Develop Laboratory Quality Management Systems and procedures.
  • Review/Interpret material/quality specifications.
  • Creates and revises written work instructions.
  • Develops qualification criteria for operators.
  • Supports central Quality Assurance functions including internal, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Responsible for complying with round robin and proficiency testing requirements.
  • Actively involved with continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provides technical support to other ATI laboratories.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Oracle experience preferred.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Communicates progress and results effectively both verbally and through written technical reports and presentations. Communication extends across business disciplines.
  • Ongoing contact with others outside their immediate work group, including Quality, Technology, Research and Development, and Operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement continuous improvement in all areas of the business.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking to address complex problems based on product and process data.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science technical degree is preferred, or equivalent years of experience. Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering degree is a plus.
  • Experience with nickel and titanium base alloys is preferred.
