Position Details

  • Schedule: Daily during clinic hours and other times as needed to support clinical operations.
  • Pay Range: $85,000 - $136,000 per year
  • Sign‑on Bonus: Eligible based on eligibility criteria
Key Responsibilities
  • Performs delivery of non‑standard, standard, and complex treatment planning and techniques.
  • Calibrates therapy machines, measures instruments against national standards, and measures beam data for treatment planning. Leads troubleshooting, collaborates with medical engineers, and operates QA procedures as required.
  • Performs radiation surveys of patients exposed to radioactive sources and of treatment rooms.
  • Enters and validates data in treatment planning systems.
  • Assists with writing specifications, commissioning new equipment, and designing new techniques as needed.
  • Champions implementation of new technology and techniques, serves as a technical resource, preceptor, and conducts in‑services.
  • Assists in completion of competencies for other staff.
  • Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and accrediting bodies.
  • Demonstrates age‑specific patient care knowledge and applies developmental principles to assess and meet individualized patient needs.
Licensure, Registration, and Certification
  • Medical Physicist certification issued by the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) must be obtained within 4 years, or
  • Medical Physicist (CMP‑A ) certification issued by The American Board of Radiology (A ) must be obtained within 4 years, or
  • Medical Physicist (CMP‑CCPM) certification issued by The Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) must be obtained within 4 years.
Education
  • Master's Degree in Medical Physics.
Experience
  • No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Completion of a CAMPEP‑accredited medical physics residency program is required.
  • Knowledge of treatment units and simulators, including limitations in clinical situations.
  • Knowledge of record‑and‑verify systems and electronic medical record systems in radiation oncology.
  • Ability to apply complex radiation therapy principles.
  • Proficiency with general radiation equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally; may push up to 500 lbs. over 50–200 feet.
  • Must sit at least 50% of the workday.
  • Exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
