The Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute (SHVI) seeks a Cardiology Acute Care NP or PA to join our team in Monroe.
Responsibilities- This role operates autonomously as part of our team-based care model and utilizes the top of your license and scope on our inpatient general cardiology service.
- You will work with specialized cardiology MDs and APPs.
- You will direct in-hospital care services and perform medical acts under the supervision of the service line physician for all patients on the cardiology service, including general cardiology, interventional, and heart‑failure patients.
- Areas of clinical work include medicine/surgical floors, cardiovascular telemetry unit, CVICU, med/surg ICU, Emergency Department, and the cardiovascular OBS unit. You are expected to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and work autonomously as a provider.
- Responsible for daily rounding as well as inpatient service triage and patient throughput.
- Evaluate new and established patients from the ER and on the cardiovascular service as well as diagnose, treat, and manage common conditions in the cardiovascular population.
- Perform an appropriate history and physical exam, write emergent progress notes, assess and prepare patient workups, and follow core measures for documentation, including hospital and 3rd‑party payer requirements.
- Facilitate and order diagnostic studies including echocardiograms, stress tests, MRIs, CTs, and cardiac catheterization when indicated.
- Order appropriate laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures, explaining necessity, preparation, and risks/benefits to patients and families.
- Recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
- Participate in evaluations with the primary supervising physician as directed by state laws.
- Work a day shift 7-on/7-off rotation; holidays required.
- Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina.
- Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS/ACLS certified.
- Nurse practitioners must have Acute Care Certification.
- Physician Assistants must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Maintain ACLS and BLS certification, and all licenses and certifications mandated by the Hospital Credentialing Committee.
- 1+ years of experience as a provider; experience in Cardiology preferred.
- Highly motivated with superb communication and organizational skills and a commitment to high‑quality patient care in the Greater Charlotte community.
- The SHVI Union campus is a 182‑bed tertiary care center with subspecialty support in Monroe, NC, located near Uptown Charlotte and other suburban urban areas.
- The location has approximately 10 physicians and 4 APPs with subspecialties in Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, Advanced Heart Failure, Electrophysiology, and Advanced Imaging.

With over 110 physicians and 140 APPs across more than 25 locations, Sanger has 50+ years of experience.
Pay Range$50.05 – $75.10 per hour
