PATIENT DINING ASSOCIATE / DIETARY AIDE (FULL TIME)

Location:

Atrium Health Union – 600 Hospital Drive, Monroe, North Carolina 28112. Online applications only.

Schedule:

Full‑time; 12‑hour shifts with rotating weekends. Days and hours may vary. More details provided during interview.

Pay: $18.50 to $19.50 per hour.

Requirement:
Prior patient dining experience is preferred.

Job Summary

Patient Dining Associates support patient care by helping patients make menu selections, assembling, delivering, and picking up meal trays. They work closely with nursing and the culinary team to ensure meals meet nutritional and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Help patients understand menu selections and work with nursing to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
  • Collaborate with caregivers and culinary staff to provide menu alternatives for patients with food allergies, sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences, or additional selection requests.
  • Manage tray tickets and assemble meals accurately and on time; retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
  • Comply with federal, state, and JCAHO regulations; adhere to HIPAA policies and confidentiality requirements.
  • Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food, cleaning work stations, and breaking down the patient tray line.
  • Adhere to facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
  • Assist dietitians with monitoring patients unable to eat orally, those on liquid diets, or patients requiring specific calorie counts.
  • Communicate problems or concerns to appropriate personnel promptly, following department procedures.
  • Complete all required daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in company policies.
  • Comply with all health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret English documents.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills.
  • Occasional lifting or moving up to 100 pounds and maneuvering food delivery carts.
