Position Summary

The Director of Operations is a champion of the site‑wide Operations Strategy. He/she will partner with all functions within the business to develop, drive, and implement core business management systems. This senior leadership position requires a proven track record in manufacturing operations, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive process improvements. The Director of Operations will lead a team, manage daily operations, ensure safety compliance, and work closely with other departments to meet the company's production goals and objectives.

Activities
  • Provide leadership for the successful day‑to‑day operation of the facility.
  • Monitor expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality.
  • Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
  • Coordinate the hiring and training of all personnel.
  • Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to ensure all team members are aware of safety policies and provide a safe workplace.
  • Remove production constraints, allocate human and equipment resources, and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
  • Encourage and promote a continuous improvement environment.
  • Develop and execute the plant manufacturing budgets and analyze workforce requirements.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all employees.
  • Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.
  • Communicate with research and development and product management personnel to develop new product strategies.
  • Work with the purchasing manager to develop and improve supplier relationships.
  • Manage relationships between shared services functions and global leaders located in the US or Europe.
  • Maintain superior customer relations and possess exceptional people skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in operational and facility management.
  • Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and improvement initiatives.
  • Support research and development and product management personnel as necessary.
  • Accountable for the safety of the facility by enforcing established safety and health policies and procedures, contributing to employee safety and wellbeing, preventing accidents, and improving the Total Recordable Incident Rate year over year.

  • Track record of continuous improvement and experience functioning in a matrix organization.
  • Attention to detail and citizenship of the United States.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum B.S. degree in Business/Finance/Management/Operations or related field (4+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing may substitute).
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing operations experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing fast‑paced manufacturing operations, including production, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Strong background in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
