Position Summary
  • Operate two or more machines to rough and finish grind or mill rotor threads to form, size, index, and finish as required to produce proper contact.
  • Operate up to four machines (shaft lathe, thread mill, NCG and a thread grinder) in a rotor cell, while meeting daily throughput demands.
  • Check rotors for form using rotor master, form gauges, and other measuring devices; make adjustments when necessary to produce proper form.
  • Operate N.C. controlled machines and use precision measuring instruments such as vises, micrometers, dial electronic indicators, electronic measuring equipment, gauge gauges, and templates to maintain dimensions, contour, close tolerances and surface finish.
  • Set up roughing, finishing, and semi-finishing machines; assemble leads, feeds, ratios, cutter speeds, and fine-tune cutter paths to ensure proper thread form per engineering specifications.
  • Set dial indicators and other precision measuring equipment to obtain proper depth, land size, off-center, and form on finished cuts.
  • Operate thread‑milling machines to mill threads, grooves, gears, worms and splines in various materials, adjusting for size and operation type.
  • Utilize idle time during machine operation to perform miscellaneous job assignments.
  • Recognize and immediately correct machining difficulties and errors without assistance, or take corrective action when faults are due to machine tool, equipment or material.
  • Remove burrs and sharp edges, mark, identify, preserve and protect parts as directed.
  • Make master rotors and consistently produce work of proper quality and quantity.
  • Perform other related duties as responsibilities necessitate.

  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Self‑starter with participative team‑player attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Read and work to blueprints, sketches, set‑up cards, and charts and tables, with or without job‑tag instructions.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent – technical degree/certification preferred.
  • 1–3 years of machining experience.
