JOB SUMMARY of

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Adheres to Hospital Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence. Assesses plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates individualized, professional patient care to adult patients within the Intensive/Progressive Care Unit (IPCU). Provides nursing care as directed by medical staff and in accordance with the objectives of the state Nurse Practice Act.

Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, advanced clinical judgement, and critical thinking required to function on the unit and to respond to rapidly changing patient needs. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific appropriate treatment and care. Participates in patient education, discharge planning, quality improvement activities. Serves as nurse when assigned.
