Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship
Walgreens is looking for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technician Apprentices to join our team. Those who qualify will receive hands‑on training in a patient‑centric pharmacy environment and work towards becoming Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technicians.
Base Pay Range$17.00 / hour – $20.50 / hour
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately.
- Maintain the Pharmacy Code of Conduct and adhere to Walgreens policies, including Good Faith Dispensing and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Register all sales, handle cash, and assist customers in the store’s Over‑the‑Counter product section when appropriate.
- Process third‑party prescription claims and perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and file claims for overages or shortages.
- Assist with clinical services such as collection and labeling of blood/urine samples when required.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and resolving customer issues, and by modeling best practices in customer interaction.
- Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through Walgreens’ apprenticeship program and any additional required state certification.
- Attend manager‑requested training and acquire continuing education credits to stay current in healthcare and pharmacy practices.
- Acquire knowledge of store inventory control.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Preferable: six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Preferable: prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Preferable: good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Preferable: good computer skills.
- Preferable: knowledge of store inventory control.
- Preferable: PTCB certification.
