Responsibilities

The Rural Hospital Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee all financial operations of a rural hospital, including planning, analysis, and reporting. Responsibilities include managing the hospital's budget, controlling expenses, ensuring regulatory compliance, and playing a key role in strategic planning to support the hospital's financial health and sustainability.

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and manage budgets, analyze financial performance, and forecast future trends.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee financial statement preparation, ensure compliance with standards, and coordinate with auditors for annual audits and filings.
  • Revenue Cycle Management: Manage billing, collections, and accounts receivable to ensure accurate reimbursement, collaborating with hospital leaders and external support as needed.
  • Cost Management: Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency without compromising patient care.
  • Risk Management: Address financial risks including regulatory compliance, insurance, and cybersecurity.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO and executives to develop and implement financial strategies.
  • Leadership and Management: Lead the finance team, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present financial information transparently to the CEO, board, and stakeholders.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in administration, accounting, or finance from an accredited institution approved by the University of South Alabama. A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in healthcare financial management, preferably in a multi-hospital system. A Master's degree and/or CPA designation are preferred. Experience with in health systems is also preferred.
