Scope

of Work

The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities in support of the NASA – Deep Space Network facility and mission.

Responsibilities
  • Review production schedules and confer with department supervisors to determine material requirements, identify overdue materials, and locate necessary materials.
  • Requisition materials and establish delivery sequences to departments based on job order priorities and anticipated material availability.
  • Arrange for in‑plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules and coordinate with department supervisors for repair, assembly, and transportation of materials to various departments.
  • Examine material delivered to production departments to verify that it matches the type specified in job orders.
  • Monitor and control the movement of material and parts along the conveyor system using a remote‑control panel board.
  • Compute the amount of material needed for specific job orders.
  • Apply knowledge of products and manufacturing processes while using an adding machine.
  • Compile reports on the quantity and type of material on hand.
  • Move or transport materials between departments using hand or industrial trucks.
  • Compile perpetual production records to locate material in the production process, using either manual or computerized systems.
  • Maintain employee records related to material movement and production activities.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Consistently produce quality products and services.
  • Complete all training within the required timeline.
  • Perform all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Up to two (2) years of related experience is required.
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Forklift experience; willingness to get certified.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high‑volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Work Schedule is a 9/80: 80 hours over 9 days, with every other Friday off (Mon‑Thu: 9 hours; every other Fri: 8 hours).
  • Highly motivated, flexible, organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain access to government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold/heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on‑call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
