Job Description & How to Apply Below
Company Overview:

Terray Therapeutics is a venture-backed biotechnology company where scientists and engineers build together to transform how small-molecule drugs are discovered and developed. By combining our nanotechnology, experimental science, machine learning, and automation, we leverage Terray’s ability to generate and learn from scale proprietary chemical data to discover novel medicines for patients in need.

At Terray, you will work alongside pioneers and experts in artificial intelligence, chemistry, drug discovery, automation, and nanotechnology in deeply interconnected workflows where computational and experimental teams continuously learn from one another. Our platform, EMMI (Experimentation Meets Machine Intelligence), powers iterative cycles of molecular design and wet-lab experimentation that rapidly improve our understanding of biochemical interactions and guide the next generation of discoveries.

Our teams support both an internal immunology pipeline and partnerships across a broad range of therapeutic areas. The work here is highly collaborative, fast-moving, and grounded in the belief that breakthroughs happen when strong science, thoughtful technology, and great people work closely together.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented organic chemist to join our Resynthesis chemistry team at the Associate Scientist or Senior Associate Scientist level. In this role you will conduct solid- and solution-phase organic synthesis in a high throughput format. You will work in a closely collaborative environment to synthesize small molecules to support platform-based drug discovery and iterative drug design in Terray’s pipeline.

This role will report to the Resynthesis Manager at Terray.

The core responsibilities of this position are:

  • Following Standard Operating Procedures and laboratory safety standards to conduct high-quality and rapid high-throughput production resynthesis with automated integrations.
  • Collaborating with both upstream and downstream stakeholders to execute synthesis schedules according to inter-team priorities and to follow up on compound deliverables.
  • Partnering with R&D groups to adapt and screen high-throughput organic synthesis conditions.
  • Executing frequent compound handoffs and follow-up experimentation, including alternative synthesis routes, for multi-step compounds.
  • Ensure detailed documentation of experimentation, including experimental notebooks, synthesis metadata, inventory consumption, and final purified compound information.
Experience and Qualifications:

Part of Terray's success is nurtured by a hands-on work environment where everyone is accountable, vested in a vision of excellence, and actively taking part in the success of the business. Terray supports a positive work environment where employees can feel engaged, recognized, and empowered to be creative.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in chemistry or related disciplines with at least 3 to 5 years’ relevant industrial / commercial experience; or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related disciplines with 6 to 10 years' relevant industrial / commercial experience.
  • Extensive experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Experience working closely in a team, preferably with experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work together with peers and as an individual contributor to execute on time-sensitive schedules.
  • Experience with solution and solid phase organic synthesis and/or DNA encoded libraries.
  • Experience with high throughput organic synthesis and datasets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with liquid handling automation.
Compensation Details:
