Essential Functions Operate and maintain fermentation and purification equipment in process development laboratories.
Supervise shift activities, follow work instructions, and standard operating procedures to ensure experiments are performed as designed.
Act as team lead during experiments, providing technical assistance and training junior employees.
Verify completion of work instructions at shift end and communicate hand‑offs.
Collect, label, and test samples according to experimental plans.
Monitor experiments, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues with equipment.
Ensure correct labeling of reagents and instrumentation in the laboratory.
Assist in writing SOPs and enter experimental data in accordance with BIOVECTRA’s data integrity policy.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and support 5S and inventory processes.
Assist with cell bank preparation, testing, and maintenance, including occasional GMP cell banking lab clean‑ups.
Support pilot plant operations when required.
Comply with approved safety practices for the laboratory facility.
Work Conditions 12‑hour rotating shifts with after‑hours and weekend availability as needed.
Heavy lifting occasionally required (up to 20 kg).
Use of respirator required when working with potent compounds.
Ability to work in both non‑GMP and GMP environments.
Qualifications Post‑secondary education; preferred undergraduate degree in microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline.
cGMP experience.
Experience with aseptic handling, sampling, and biochemical assays.
Industry experience in fermentation and protein purification is an asset.
Compensation Full‑time hourly pay range $23.88–$41.79 CAD, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits. Pay is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications.
