Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
• Address customers' complaints or concerns with professionalism in customer service.
• Load and unload goods.
• Oversee vehicle condition and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
• Perform brake adjustments.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs.
• Perform pre‑trip, en route, and post‑trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
• Tarp and ensure safety and security of cargo.
• Transport and handle dangerous goods.

• Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi‑trailer trucks)
• Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2‑axle vehicles)
• Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
• Driver's License (Class 1 or
  
  A)

• Documentation knowledge: accident or incident reports, bill of lading, dangerous goods occurrence reports, inspection report (pre‑trip, en‑route, post‑trip), maintenance and repair reports, trip reports.
• Type of trucking and equipment: dry bulk, dump truck, refrigerated, tractor‑trailer, CB radio, GPS navigation, trip recorder.
• Transportation/travel experience: international, local, national, regional.

• Security and safety: basic security clearance, bondable, criminal record check, driver's validity licence check, driving record check, drug test, medical exam.
• Transportation/travel information: drive manual transmission vehicle, travel expenses paid by employer, valid driver’s licence, willing to travel cross‑border, for extended periods, internationally, overnight, driver's abstract.
• Work conditions and physical capabilities: handling heavy loads, physically demanding, up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Own tools/equipment: steel‑toed safety boots, safety vest.
