Turners Falls, MA – $22.63–$28.03 per hour plus a $3.00 3rd‑shift differential.
Job Duties- Work from shop orders and requisitions; move heavy‑sized wire reels, mix components and chemicals to maintain stability with regard to footage, lengths, wall thickness, and proper die and leader sizes; use MIS system.
- Schedule production, selecting shop orders to consolidate runs for best efficiency and to meet time requirements.
- Set up extruder lines: place and adjust dies and leaders, obtain and maintain proper temperatures, speeds, and feeds; ensure cleaning of heads, screws, and barrels.
- Operate marking/printing machines to apply identification numbers, stripes, or legends to extruded wire/cable; operate multiple pay‑off and take‑ups per shop packet or wire size.
- Perform visual and tactile checks, take samples, and operate testing equipment (concentricity, OD/, elongation, adherence, etc.) to meet specifications.
- Monitor operations continuously, adjusting water trough, speeds, feeds, and other variables to meet quality and quantity parameters.
- Detect and report defective materials, improper compounding, malfunctioning equipment, or unusual conditions; maintain equipment and work areas clean and orderly.
- Work a flexible schedule, including required overtime.
- High School diploma or GED, basic math skills, team player, detail‑oriented, and willingness to learn.
- 3+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, preferably in extrusion.
- Judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions regarding multi‑head/multi‑line extruder set‑ups and operations to meet quality specifications, quantity, and schedules.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, push, pull large reels; long periods of standing; continuous mental and visual attention to detail.
