General Maintenance Worker (GM Worker)

Position reports to:
Maintenance Manager
The General Maintenance Worker’s primary responsibilities are to generally support our maintenance staff. Perform preventative maintenance on existing fleet of vehicles, which include buses, vans, and other company vehicles. Act as a back up to assist in general building maintenance. Must have positive attitude, be responsible, be accountable and be able to work independently or with a team. Must have a Class B CDL.
MajorDuties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs on fleet, as directed by the Maintenance Manager
- The level of repairs made to the vehicles and equipment will be up to the discretion of the Maintenance Manager
- Perform the duties of the Utility Worker as needed
- This person will be expected to be able to work for periods of time unsupervised
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience: A commitment to customer service experience is strongly preferred. Possession of a current CDL Class B license with passenger and air brakes endorsements, a current DPU, and related medical documentation is required at time of employment, or within a specified period thereafter. Vehicle maintenance experience is required. Fleet and heavy-duty vehicle maintenance experience is preferred.
Knowledge: Incumbent must be able to read and write and have good mechanical knowledge and basic computer knowledge.
Interpersonal
Skills:
Must have good communication skills for positive interactions with other Company personnel and the general public. Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations and work efficiently to resolve incidents as they arise.
Physical Requirements: Incumbent must meet physical, medical, and mobility requirements for operation of a commercial vehicle. Must be able to physically assist passengers who are disabled to include pushing or pulling large wheelchairs. Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., and infrequent lifting up to 75 lbs.
Work Environment: The work environment is primarily indoors with occasional exposure to outdoor weather, bus fumes, oils and grease, accident site and traffic hazards, and some hazardous materials. Incumbent must be comfortable with occasional work alone in a non-populated area at night.
Supervision: This position is supervised by the Maintenance Manager, FTM, Inc.
