Logan Health is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine MD/DO to provide locum Emergency Department Medical Director coverage at a Critical Access Hospital in Chester, MT. This is an ongoing, long-term locum need with flexible scheduling and on-site support.
Position OverviewRole: Emergency Medicine Physician Medical Director
Coverage Type: Locum Tenens
Start Date: ASAP (pending credentialing)
Duration: Ongoing until further notice
Commitment: Minimum 10 on-site days per month
Preferred one week on / one week off schedule
Flexibility to accommodate provider availability
Includes Medical Directorship call coverage for the entire month
Critical Access Hospital with on-site long-term care and swing bed
Emergency Department and Urgent Care services
Ideal for physicians with Critical Access Hospital and swing bed experience
Supported by 4 APPs covering remaining ER shifts (Medical Director oversight role)
Hospital Administrator manages all administrative scheduling and operational tasks
Emergency Department: 24-hour coverage while on-site
Urgent Care: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Medical Staff & Provider Meetings:
Approximately 2 hours per month
Can be attended on-site or remotely
Rate: TBD based on final schedule and on-call responsibilities
Daily 24-hour on-site rate while covering ER
Additional call/consult rates apply if needed
Final compensation structure to be discussed directly with the site
On-site housing provided
Closest airport: Great Falls, MT (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away)
MD or DO
Board Certified / Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
Prior Critical Access Hospital experience preferred
Comfortable overseeing APP providers in a Medical Director capacity
Qualified physicians will be scheduled for a phone call with the Hospital Administrator to review expectations, coverage structure, and compensation details.
