POSITION SUMMARY: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for responding to requests for emergency medical services and providing patient care within the scope of practice. This role requires the ability to conduct rapid and thorough medical or trauma assessments in various locations and high‑stress situations. The EMT must accurately follow medical protocols, either through on-line medical control or standing orders, to ensure appropriate treatment and transport of patients to the Rocky Boy Health Center or regional hospitals for further medical care.

Major duties:

• Responds to requests for emergency medical services and provides patient care following scope of practice.
• Conducts rapid complete advanced medical or trauma assessment in a variety of locations and stressful situations.
• Must be able to accurately follow protocols via on-line medical control or standing orders.
• Transports patients to Rocky Boy Health Center and local/regional hospitals for medical care.
• Inspects ambulance after each call to make sure it is in running condition.
• Maintains records of services for emergency and transportation vehicles.
• Submits complete and concise reports to Supervisor and enters into electronic health record on all ambulance runs on a daily basis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Nationally Registered EMT‑B, A‑EMT, or EMT‑P.
• Current, unrestricted licensure as Emergency Care Provider in Montana.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Licensed with endorsements:
  Medications, Airway, IO/IV Initiation and Maintenance.
• Experience working in a rural or tribal health setting is a plus.
• Knowledge of IHS Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and proficiency in electronic medical documentation.
• Commitment to serving underserved populations and improving healthcare access.
