Pharmacy Technician

• Read and interpret prescriptions, obtain proper medication in the proper strength and dosage form.
• Determine proper amounts and counts, pour or measure the medication.
• Affix proper labels and record required data on Pharmacy’s copy of prescription order.
• Dispense medication in ambulatory care or discharge situations (after a final check by Pharmacist).
• Independently fill first dose medications, missing doses, and unit dose carts for inpatient areas without routine secondary review.
• Document items dispensed in the unit dose computer package.
• Prepare IV admixtures.
• Assist with inventory management.
• Provide patient education on pharmacy topics such as requesting refills, drug information sheets, and relaying questions to the Pharmacist.
• Review, prepare, and fill physician orders.
• Perform pharmacy checks on sterile orders, bulk drug orders, and replenishing of medical carts.
• Assist in conducting medication storage area inspections.
• Assure safe handling procedures for hazardous drugs.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential required.
• 2-4 years of pharmacy technician experience, including clinical support functions.
• Familiarity with IHS pharmacy systems and federal pharmacy regulations.

Estimated Salary/Wage: USD $22.58/Hr. up to USD $28.00/Hr.
