Position Overview

Wildlife Mitigation Biologist II – Division of Fish, Wildlife, Recreation and Conservation (DFWRC), Natural Resources Department, Polson, MT.

• Masters degree in Wildlife Biology or Wildlife Management. Specific coursework: mammal and bird identification, plant identification, wildlife ecology, advanced statistics, plant ecology, and general wildlife biology.
• Direct experience in research design, data entry, statistical analysis, compilation of scientific research reports.
• Ability to analyze difficult situations and respond calmly in public settings.
• Desirable:
  Eligibility for professional certification by The Wildlife Society.
• Ability to operate motor vehicles, motor boats, nets, traps, 4x4 vehicles, all‑terrain vehicles, and communications equipment.
• Physical stamina to plant, handle captive animals, lift loads, and perform physical labor.
• Supervisory experience to review the work of others.
• Valid driver’s license.

Salary range $30.82 to $35.42 per hour. Benefits include Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement, Long‑term Disability, and PTO & Paid Holidays.
