Overview

Big Sky Resort is seeking experienced Lift Electricians with prior ski lift maintenance industry experience. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient electrical operation of all lift systems, including gondolas and high-speed chairlifts. As part of the Lift Maintenance team, the Level 2 or 3 Lift Electrician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical components and systems related to lift operations.

This is a hands-on role that requires a strong background in electrical systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work in mountain environments and challenging weather conditions.

Responsibilities

* Perform daily electrical inspections and safety checks on aerial lift systems

* Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults and component failures across various lift types

* Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and manufacturer manuals

* Understand and comply with all ANSI B77.1 standards, state and federal regulations

* Work at heights up to 80 feet using ladders, towers, and fall protection equipment

* Assist with start-up procedures before lift operations begin each morning

* Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance and repairs performed

* Collaborate with Lift Maintenance teammates and other departments to ensure safe and timely lift operations

* Use good judgment and a proactive mindset to address potential issues before they affect operations

* Maintain a professional and positive demeanor, especially in high-stress situations

Qualifications

* Must be at least 18 years of age

* Minimum of 2 years of ski lift maintenance industry experience, specifically in electrical work

* Working knowledge of low and high voltage systems, PLCs, sensors, motors, and VFDs

* Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics

* Valid driver's license required

* Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights

* Ability to ski or snowboard is required for access to mountain work locations

* Basic electrical tool set required

* Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. unassisted

* Must be able to push/pull equipment and components weighing up to 80 lbs. with assistance

* Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods and climb multiple flights of stairs or towers
