Teacher
- Kindergarten (Long Term Substitute January 5, 2026 to June 25, 2026)
Join Montclair Public Schools for a long‑term substitute position at Nishuane School. The teacher will be responsible for content instruction, supervision, and evaluation of all kindergarten students while working within board policies and state laws to develop each child to his or her fullest potential.
Qualifications- Must hold acceptable New Jersey certification for kindergarten assignment.
- Knowledge of kindergarten content and pedagogical principles.
- Ability to create and maintain a climate of respect, fairness, and high expectations for all students.
- Strong communication, managerial, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching and learning principles.>
- Ability to function effectively in a diverse school community.
- Ability to motivate and assess students academically and socially.
- Ability to work as part of a highly functioning team.
- Required criminal background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal alien status.
- Ability to work on site during required hours.
- Develop and implement an instructional program consistent with board policies and state mandates.
- Plan and conduct classroom activities focusing on basic skills, key concepts, and desirable attitudes.
- Organize a pleasant and stimulating classroom environment that accommodates individual differences.
- Implement instruction and maintain an inclusive environment that values diverse populations.
- Contribute to individual program plans for students with special needs.
- Adapt curriculum to meet varying rates, patterns, and needs of all students.
- Utilize available technologies effectively.
- Collaborate with parents and students to encourage progress.
- Ensure health, safety, and welfare of students.
- Continuously appraise student progress using subjective and objective criteria.
- Participate in curriculum planning and improvement of the educational program.
- Develop working relationships with all faculty and personnel.
- Engage in professional development and community awareness.
- Maintain accurate student records as required by the Board or Department of Education.
- Attend school meetings regularly and be punctual.
- Report on student academic progress to parents regularly.
- Assume other related responsibilities within this context.
Ten‑month contract, salary and benefits as per the Teacher Employment Agreement (MEA). Evaluation of performance will be conducted annually in accordance with board policy.
