This is more than a job—it's an opportunity to influence patient trajectories in a high‑acuity environment while embracing the adventure of travel. In PCU, you’ll blend the precision of critical care with the compassion of bedside nursing, guiding patients who are on the cusp of stabilization toward recovery.
Across the weeks ahead, you’ll refine clinical judgment, elevate care plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support smooth transitions from acute to step‑down care. Picture yourself making meaningful differences every shift, while discovering the diverse communities that New Jersey and the broader United States have to offer. And as you pursue this path, you’ll also have the chance to appreciate the state’s beauty—from tranquil parks and scenic shorelines to charming towns, vibrant arts scenes, and renowned dining—creating a satisfying balance between professional purpose and personal inspiration.

In PCU, you’ll care for patients with acute conditions who require close monitoring, nuanced hemodynamic assessment, and careful progression toward general medical floors or discharge. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include ongoing patient assessment and trend analysis, telemetry monitoring, administering medications and IV therapies, managing invasive lines and devices, and performing essential neurovascular and cardiopulmonary assessments. You’ll collaborate with physicians, case managers, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists to refine care plans, anticipate complications, and educate patients and families about treatment goals, medications, and post‑discharge needs.
You’ll lead with clinical judgment while refining technical skills, such as respiratory support optimization, ECG interpretation, and post‑procedure monitoring, and you’ll have opportunities to pursue PCU‑specific certifications and leadership roles as you demonstrate excellence.
