What will be your role?

Reporting to the Automation Controls Director, the Electrical Engineer will work with Project team to design and develop systems, install (commission), troubleshoot, repair, and program control systems for Marine HVAC (including electrical, algorithm and software design) for Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems installed in large marine vessels.

The incumbent will play an important role as part of a team to develop products and systems for global projects by embracing new controls/technologies working with shipyard globally to reduce ship cabling, build costs through innovative solutions. The Automation
Engineer will also act as company “expert” in Electrical Systems during installation (commissioning), troubleshooting, repairing and programming control systems in vessels.

Your challenge:

  • Design drawings and wiring diagrams under the supervision of the Automation & Controls Manager.
  • Programs and configure PLC and HMI.
  • Provides input to the project planning process, assesses the time required for the project engineering and the detailed design tasks.
  • Responsible for end-to-end testing, downloading programming, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects Testing and trouble-shooting equipment and network HVAC systems controls, during commissioning and Factory acceptance tests Performing point-to-point commissioning of sensors and other system inputs.
  • Supports Field Engineers during start-up and commissioning.
  • Update AutoCAD control panel drawing and wiring diagrams under the supervision of the Automation & Controls Director.
  • Reading and interpreting control sequence logic from control philosophy documents.
  • Checking the calibration of system sensors and transmitters.
  • Occasionally traveling to plant installations and working with customers for start-up and commissioning.

    What sets you apart?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or in Instrumentation
  • 1-2 years of experience in Automation
  • Experience in drawing panel layouts in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with various PLC and Industrial controls systems
  • Familiar with PLC programming and implementation (Siemens TIA Portal and Logo Controller, Beijer)
  • Autonomous with strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills in automation
  • Bilingual English and French: frequent communication with other North American offices.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 15%.

    Relevant du directeur des contrôles d’automatisation, l’
    ingénieur électrique travaillera avec l’équipe de projet pour concevoir et développer des systèmes, installer (mettre en service), dépanner, réparer et programmer des systèmes de contrôle pour des équipements CVC marin (y compris la conception électrique, d’algorithmes et de logiciels) pour le chauffage, la ventilation, la climatisation et la réfrigération (CVC-R) installés dans les grands navires.

    Le titulaire jouera un rôle important au sein d’une équipe visant à développer des produits et des systèmes pour des projets mondiaux en adoptant de nouveaux contrôles/technologies en travaillant avec les chantiers navals du monde entier pour réduire le câblage des navires et les coûts grâce à des solutions innovantes. L’ingénieur en automatisation agira également en tant qu’« expert » de l’entreprise en systèmes électriques lors de l’installation (mise en service), du dépannage, de la réparation et de la programmation des systèmes de contrôle dans les navires.
