Job Description 1. Scope of Work – Environment, Health and Safety SpecialistReporting to the Environment, Health and Safety Director at the La Prairie site.
ObjectiveSupport the integration of EHS programs at GEV and ensure full compliance with applicable local and provincial regulatory requirements.
Duration1 year
LocationOn-site at Client office - La Prairie. Remote work is not planned as part of this assignment.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Health and Safety or any other related program
Fluent in French and English
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Health and Safety in an industrial factory.
Interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan and execute programs.
2. Main ResponsibilitiesA. Integration of EHS Programs at GEV
- Conduct a review of GEV’s EHS programs and assess existing gaps.
- Identify gaps and areas for improvement, and assign responsibilities for corrective actions.
- Support the implementation of updated GEV programs across all relevant departments.
- Review existing EHS policies to assess their effectiveness and alignment with the GEV framework.
- Develop new EHS policies where gaps are identified.
- Update existing policies to reflect the GEV framework and best practices.
- Ensure all policies are properly documented and easily accessible to employees.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify workplace hazards.
- Evaluate the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks.
- Develop and support the implementation of mitigation strategies.
- Monitor the effectiveness of mitigation measures over time.
- Review equipment to verify compliance with applicable safety standards.
- Identify machinery presenting safety or compliance risks.
- Provide recommendations for modifications or additional safeguards where necessary.
- Support the implementation of the recommended corrective actions.
- Review existing LOTO procedures to assess their effectiveness and alignment with the GEV framework.
- Develop comprehensive LOTO procedures where none exist.
- Update existing procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with the GEV framework.
- Train employees on new or revised lockout/tagout procedures.
- Research applicable local and provincial EHS regulations.
- Develop a compliance calendar identifying key deadlines and required actions.
- Update the calendar regularly to reflect regulatory or organizational changes.
4. Monitoring / Reporting
- Monthly progress reports to stakeholders
- Comprehensive final report at the end of the project
Required Qualifications
- University degree related to Health and Safety or any other related field
- Experience in an industrial environment (Minimum 5 years)
