Senior Building Structure Drafter

Do you possess deep technical expertise in structural drafting and design and wish to take on a challenge equal to your ambitions? Within our specialized engineering & design practice, we are currently seeking a senior building structure drafter who will also act as a structural lead to join an established team based in Belœil. This key role sits at the heart of major modular construction projects in the multi-residential and institutional sectors, including schools, healthcare facilities, and multi-unit residential complexes.

In this pivotal engineering & design position, the senior building structure drafter will be responsible for designing, modeling, and adapting complex structural plans into high-precision modular assemblies. As the structural lead, you will serve as a technical mentor and primary resource for a team of three junior and intermediate technicians. You will ensure the highest standard of quality across all deliverables, review structural details prior to shop fabrication, and help guide the team through an active technological transition toward BIM workflows and Revit software.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, train, and thoroughly review the work of a team of 3 structural technicians.

• Design and divide structural building plans into modular units for off-site fabrication.

• Verify, correct, and validate all structural drawings and connection details prior to shop release.

• Serve as the internal technical expert and key resource person for all structural engineering queries.

• Actively support the software transition from AutoCAD to Revit and BIM methodologies alongside the BIM manager.

• Collaborate closely with architecture, procurement, estimation, and plant production teams.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of building structure concepts (timber framing, structural steel, or hybrid systems).

• Strong leadership, coaching, and technical plan-reviewing abilities.

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD software with strong 3D spatial visualization skills.

• Analytical mindset, high attention to detail, and proven problem-solving abilities for complex structures.

• Self-motivated with exceptional teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.

• Completed diploma or degree (DEP, DEC, or Bachelor's) in drafting, civil engineering, or architecture.

• Minimum of 5 to 10+ years of relevant experience as a senior building structure drafter or similar role.

• Practical knowledge or proficiency with Revit and BIM environments (a major asset).

• Previous experience in modular or prefabricated construction (a strong asset).

• Fully autonomous "plug-and-play" profile able to quickly integrate into ongoing operations.
