Driver Apprentice​/Laborer

Position: Driver Apprentice / Laborer
Location: Chambly

The Safety-Kleen Canada Inc. branch located in Chambly, QC, is looking for a  Driver Apprentice / Laborer  to join its safety-conscious team. The candidate will be trained in handling and transport of hazardous materials, including working with a tanker truck, assisting in the warehouse, and operating a vacuum truck. Training will also cover obtaining a Class 3 license if you do not already have one.

Compensation and Schedule

Starting pay of $25.83/hour ($27.47/hour for Class
3)

Schedule:

Monday through Friday (day shift)

Responsibilities

Learn to transport hazardous waste (using a vacuum truck or 26-foot box truck) from the customer’s site to the warehouse in compliance with DOT and HAZMAT regulations

Learn how to properly load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste, ensuring barrels are correctly sorted and weight limits are adhered to

Learn to affix placards to the vehicle to comply with company and DOT requirements

Maintain daily logs, dispatch and trip reports, and vehicle inspection reports

Verify the mechanical condition and proper functioning of equipment

May be assigned additional duties as needed by the company

Qualifications

Attention to detail is essential

Comfortable using a smartphone

Able to work independently after training, while maintaining communication with the supervisor as needed

Able to make real-time decisions in the field
