Material Handler Equipment Operator

Position Summary

The Material Handler Equipment Operator is responsible for receiving, storing, picking, packing, shipping, and transporting materials within a warehouse environment. This role supports inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and the efficient movement of products while ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with company standards. The successful candidate will contribute to operational productivity by maintaining material flow, supporting warehouse operations, and delivering high-quality customer service.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of related experience in warehouse operations, material handling, manufacturing, distribution, or logistics.
  • Experience using computers and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or inventory management systems.
  • Forklift certification or previous experience operating material handling equipment is considered an asset.
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload inbound and outbound freight from trucks and trailers.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify shipments for accuracy, quality, quantities, and product condition.
  • Pick, pack, stage, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
  • Process returns and complete inventory transactions using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Move, transport, and store materials safely using appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other powered equipment as authorized.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts and assist with maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Label, sort, organize, and stock materials in designated warehouse locations.
  • Follow established work instructions and standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and company safety standards.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties and support other departments as operational needs require.
  • Frequently push, pull, bend, reach, and lift materials throughout the workday.

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to accurately follow work instructions, shipping documents, labels, and inventory procedures.
  • Proficiency with computers, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and inventory management software.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and safe material handling procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to cross-train and support multiple warehouse functions.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating powered material handling equipment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
