Candidates for this position are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and student success at the university level. The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Lecturers are required to maintain additional hours outside the classroom to provide assistance to students. Specific assignments are dependent upon department needs.
Candidates may be called upon to teach in a distance education mode.

Department Description
The Department of Biology and Chemistry at CSUMB offers B.S. degrees in Agricultural Plant and Soil Sciences and Biology and minors in Biology and Chemistry. The Biology major has 3 concentrations:
1) Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology;
2) Molecular Biology; and
3) Teacher Preparation. These programs all emphasize the critical thinking and technical skills necessary to train students in the biomedical, environmental, technological, agricultural workforce, succeed in high level graduate programs in the biosciences, and solve complex problems.
