The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at California State University, Monterey Bay invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level to begin in Fall 2026. We seek applicants with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and research.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in applied mathematics, computational mathematics, and/or data science. (e.g. applied modeling, machine learning, optimization, statistics/data ethics, etc.).
  • Develop or expand curriculum offerings in data science and/or applied mathematics.
  • Maintain an active research program, ideally involving undergraduate student engagement.
  • Contribute to mentoring, advising, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and with local industry or community partners as appropriate.
