College Living Experience (CLE) in Monterey, California is seeking a passionate, organized, and empathetic Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor to help students build essential life skills for successful independent living. The ideal candidate will have experience working with neurodiverse young adults and a flexible, student-centered approach to teaching life skills. A successful candidate will have approximately 25 hours of availability per week, with the ability to work morning hours on weekdays and some availability on weekends.

CLE is a comprehensive transitional support program for young adults diagnosed with Autism, AD/HD, and/or learning disabilities. Our students are working towards living independent adult lives and they wouldn’t be able to meet this goal without the support of individuals like you.

Though we come together to support our students, we also prioritize staff development as a part of our core commitments. We provide regular opportunities to learn from each other and engage in conversations about best practices and individualized approaches to learning.

We operate in four different domains (academic, career development, social skills, and independent living), but we engage in regular communication, problem solving, brainstorming, and cross-curricular planning. We are dedicated to building an inclusive team that sustains a welcoming community for sharing our diverse perspectives and strengths.
As an ILS Instructor you will:- Conduct regular safety and cleanliness assessments of students' apartments.
- Instruct and guide students in essential independent living skills, including:
- Personal health, hygiene, and wellness routines
- Nutrition education and healthy meal planning
- Cooking and household maintenance
- Encouraging physical activity and fitness engagement, such as walking routines, gym visits, or recreational sports (as appropriate to student goals)
- Develop and implement individualized systems to support executive functioning skills such as time management, organization, and task initiation.
- Provide guidance on medication management and assist with refills as needed.
- Foster conversations and habits around mental wellness, sleep hygiene, and stress management.
- Document session summaries in Best Notes software promptly and accurately.
- Collaborate regularly with the ILS Coordinator to assess student progress and adjust supports.
- Participate in team meetings and attend scheduled individual supervision sessions.
- Bachelor's degree, preferred
- Working with people with autism: 1 year (Preferred)

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
