Job Description
We are seeking a full-time, entry-level Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineer with a strong mechanical focus to join our team in Monterey, CA. The selected candidate will support the design, prototyping, integration, and testing of unmanned systems and innovative energetics-based payload systems.
Day-to-day responsibilities will involve work related to drones, robotics, UASs, ROVs, UGVs, energetics, munitions, aerospace engineering, marine engineering, as well as engineering documentation and programmatic support.
Position Responsibilities- B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering (mechanical focus preferred)
- Effective problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with Solid Works for the design and documentation of mechanical components and assemblies
- Ability to produce detailed 2D/3D drawings, apply GD&T-compliant tolerancing, and prepare fabrication-ready documentation
- Familiarity with MIL-STDs and fuze board compliance considerations for energetic systems
- Full understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with current UAS, UGV, and ROV technologies and systems
- Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad range of responsibilities
- Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a commitment to achieving company objectives
- Willingness to learn from mistakes and continuously improve personal and team performance
- Strong emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and prioritizing the success of the team
- Familiarity with, or interest in, operating CNC mills, lathes, and other machining tools for rapid prototyping is a plus
- Minimum 2 years of relevant technical experience in Mechanical Engineering, including at least 2 years in unmanned system technologies
- Experience developing requirements specification for mechanical subsystems according to MIL-STD 961D standard or equivalent
- Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools to perform position responsibilities: extensive experience with Solid Works and designing system payloads and/or airframes
- Manufacturing experience of UGVs/UAVs
- Manufacturing experience to include maintaining bill of materials (BOM)
- Experience with change control management
- BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
- Recognition by a reputable international engineering society such as ASME at the senior membership level or higher is desired
- Demonstrates familiarity with MIL-STD-1316 for fuze board compliance of energetic systems
- Demonstrates full understanding and knowledge of engineering principles in the technical discipline and works independently
- Effectively articulates concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical staff
- Excels in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with small teams and diverse duties
- Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
- Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
