The Assistant Controller is a key member of the finance team and serves as a critical partner to the Controller in managing the District’s financial integrity and operational accountability. This position performs high-level accounting, financial reporting, budget development, forecasting, and analytical work essential to District decision-making. Responsibilities include month-end closing, general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliation, treasury transactions, capital project draw coordination, and preparation of internal financial statements and discussion/analysis reports.
The Assistant Controller maintains complex financial models, compiles statistical and operational data, supports annual audits, and acts as a liaison to District departments during the budget process. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong technical accounting skills, advanced Excel modeling capability, and a solid understanding of GAAP and GASB standards. - Active California CPA License (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- MBA preferred
- 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning, analysis, and accounting
The following experience is desirable, but not required
- Experience in public agency or fund accounting
- Airport or aviation industry experience
- Experience with construction/public works projects
- Experience with Sage 100 or similar financial systems
