Medical Scribe at MOSM Ryan Ranch
Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Lead Medical Scribe, the Medical Scribe is responsible for accurately transcribing medical notes related to patient encounters into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for physician review and approval. This position involves accompanying physicians during patient examinations to document history, physical exams, diagnoses, symptoms, and any treatments or procedures performed. The Medical Scribe also transcribes patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications, ensuring that all information is entered into the EMR system promptly and correctly.
In addition to transcription duties, the Medical Scribe is expected to maintain effective communication with physicians, patients, and other staff, while adhering to safety protocols and safeguarding patient confidentiality. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Strong understanding of filing systems, office machines, and equipment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD‑10 codes, and medical insurance processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle tasks flexibly, adjust to changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Capable of interpreting documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals, while maintaining proper grammar and spelling.
- Mathematical skills for basic calculations and reconciling cash drawer balances.
Education
Associate degree in a pre‑med, pre‑nursing, or a health‑related field and 1+ years of office‑related or medical scribe experience or training preferred but not required.
