Apply for the Network Engineer V role at FWI (Fed Writers, Inc.). This is a senior network architect and Extreme Networks specialist position to administer, maintain, secure, and accredit the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) Academic Network.

FWI builds a team to provide the IT environment for 100% of DLIFLC teaching and instruction. The Network Engineer V leads network planning, problem identification, Extreme Network hardware and software optimization, reduce latency, enhance scalability, provide knowledge transfer, and ensure a high-performance resilient network infrastructure that supports mission‑critical educational operations.

On‑Site. Full‑time Monday through Friday, 7:45am – 4:45pm at Presidio of Monterey in Monterey, CA.

• Serve as Senior Network Architect for network design and infrastructure updates
• Act as Project Manager for high‑priority network projects using Extreme devices
• Perform tuning, optimization, and proactive maintenance of Extreme Network equipment
• Serve as onsite contact for support and product escalations with Extreme Networks
• Conduct network assessments, traffic analysis, and capacity planning for future growth
• Design network topology to streamline data flow, reduce latency, enhance scalability, and ensure redundancy
• Develop software release planning and documentation
• Provide knowledge transfer and technical training to IT staff on network infrastructure
• May require travel CONUS/OCONUS

• BA/BS minimum 5 years experience OR AA/AS minimum 7 years OR 9+ years relevant experience focusing on Extreme Networks products
• Certifications:
  
  CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP
• CCNA Certification or equivalent
• Experience with: VMware NSX V6.2, Ruckus Layer 2 Switches, Wireless Controller, Wireless AP, Palo Alto Networks Firewall, Brocade MPLS, Cisco switches, Aruba Wireless Controllers, Ciena 100G OME, Extreme Networks Layer 2/3, Solar Winds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends
