One Royal Culture Short Story
We have a current opening for a General Superintendent for our projects throughout the Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Salinas area.
Success in the position is achieved through the following duties & responsibilities:
- Ability to manage a scope of work of $50M+ with a total of 2-6 projects at a time.
- Management of Sr. Superintendent, Superintendent and foreman and manage a crew size of 2-8 field operation leaders
- Structure the overall field operations for designated market and/or region. Select appropriate people for each project in the region.
- Develop long term succession plan for the field operations in the building group.
- Demonstrate most or all the Royal leadership traits and coach on the company culture and strategy.
- Ability to forecast manpower 6-12 months
- Create and promote Safety Leaders in the region by modeling and inspiring behaviors outlined in the Safety Leader Playbook.
- Ensure alignment with the JHA’s, OSHA and company guideline are accomplished. Hold team accountable and participate in daily safety huddles throughout the region and perform observations in HCSS when visiting job sites.
- Create training plans for field leaders and field crew to make sure they are trained in all safety requirements and certifications needed for the work.
- Ensure field leaders are documenting each day with timecards, daily job reports, production tracking, equipment and vehicle inspections.
- Create training plans as needed with the Learning and Development team for field leadership and technical field training.
- Ensure all projects follow all rules compliance and regulations, ratios for projects and company policy.
- Responsible for conducting bi-annual performance reviews utilizing the 3A+ performance tool and ensuring field leaders are doing regular review with their teams.
- Actively engages with Royal Leadership team to ensure execution of the company VTO and Vision Zones.
- Develops and maintains great relationships with the project executive in the region. Rumble, collaborate and align with the PX to successfully execute the work and lead the project teams. Also, develop relationships with Support Operations to ensure project teams have what they need.
- Collaborate with estimating to help future bids with regards to production rates, means and methods.
- Build strong relationships with clients and customers in the region. Assist with developing a client strategy on each project based on client color code and monitor the status of the client relationship on the project.
- Actively engages and responsible for the Project Launch step of the proven process to collaborate with the PX and OM on selection of the best field leaders for the project, as well as field crews to build a successful project.
- Ensure field ops are following Step #4 of the Proven Process (Project Kickoff) for all new projects. Create a plan and timeline for deliverables up to and including the date of the project approach. Ensure all foreman and superintendents have been trained on these steps.
- QA/QC responsibilities for the project kick off process.
- Ensure that safety is planned for each major activity and that the field leadership understands the risks, the requirements and is ready to perform work safely. Review all JHA’s developed by field leaders.
- Oversee production planning with each Sr. Superintendent/Superintendent for their projects. Help foremen work with the PM to create work breakdown structures and a production plan on their projects.
- Ensure field leaders are including and utilizing, VC and prefab ideas into their production plans and effectively coordinating their resources. This also includes equipment and materials.
- Ensure the project field leaders are consistently executing Step #5 of the Proven Process (Construction) throughout the project, and are attending the monthly, weekly, and daily huddles fully prepared with their assigned tasks performed.
