Big Sur Land Trust is a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring love of land across generations, conserving Monterey County’s unique landscapes, and ensuring access to outdoor experiences for all. We’re seeking a strategic fundraising leader to join our Executive Team as Chief Philanthropy Officer.

About the Role

As CPO, you’ll design and lead a comprehensive fundraising program to advance BSLT’s mission. You’ll work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior staff to secure major gifts, manage campaigns, and grow philanthropic resources.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies across major gifts, corporate, foundation, and planned giving.
• Manage a portfolio of ~50 high-capacity donors; conduct at least six strategic donor meetings monthly.
• Lead capital campaigns and special initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor a high-performing development team.
• Drive board engagement in fundraising and lead the Development Committee.
• Set and achieve annual revenue goals of $4M+.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of progressive fundraising experience.
• Proven success with major gifts and capital campaigns.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce or similar).
