Resident Care Director

Base pay range
$90,000.00/hr – $/hr

Resident Care Director Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement highest standards for assisted living services
  • Work directly with residents to evaluate needs and services
  • Conduct or assist with electronic evaluation of incoming residents and periodic re‑evaluation to ensure documentation and charging per policy
  • Implement services during new resident move‑in; help orientation and adjustment
  • Provide direct care to residents as needed per identified service needs
  • Accurately assess, communicate, and document resident status; observe and report changes in behavior and health to GM, physician, and family per state regulations
  • Conduct regular meetings with residents and families to ensure needs are met
  • Communicate with resident family members, physicians, and pharmacists as needed regarding services provided
  • Ensure all Resident Rights and Responsibilities are protected and enforced; recognize and assist in prevention of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation; report to appropriate sources per state regulations
  • Address difficult resident behaviors with dignity and respect
  • Guarantee compliance with all State Rules and Regulations of assisted living
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities to team members
  • Challenge and inspire team members to achieve results
  • Evaluate team members’ skills and competencies and ensure performance review completion
  • Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance
  • Oversee training and development of team members directly and indirectly; ensure training and certification of all AL staff completed per regulations
  • Provide coaching, direction, and leadership support to achieve employee engagement and customer delight
  • Mentor team members using electronic care system
  • Build effective teams by determining staffing levels, identifying and recruiting top talent
  • Prepare staffing schedules to meet community requirements for standards of care
Administration
  • Adhere to budgetary guidelines established by Merrill Gardens
  • Coordinate with General Manager for financial stability of assisted living department from census development and expense control
  • Provide General Manager with weekly status reports on AL residents
  • Maintain resident records and department documentation
  • Comply with state‑mandated reporting as required
  • Audit AL services for regulatory compliance
  • Provide additional management reports as required
Education and Qualifications
  • Current LPN/LVN or RN licensure, as specified by state agency
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire where required by state
  • Completion of dementia training within six months of hire date if applicable
Experience
  • 3 years of related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in assisted living, geriatric nursing, or dementia care
  • Experience in medication administration and hands‑on personal care preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in budgeting and cost control
  • Experience operating an electronic care system

Actual pay rate within stated pay range is determined based on relevant factors in compliance with state and local wage laws.

Physical Requirements

This role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 75 lbs), and assisting with resident care. Regular bending, reaching, and physical movement are required throughout the workday.
