Student Assistant/Computer Lab Attendant

Location: Hoover, AL

Pay Range: $8.00/hr - $8.00/hr

Position Overview: Dual faceted position responsible for general office/receptionist work and monitoring the TRIO SSS Computer Lab. Availability is Monday and Wednesday 5 PM to 7 PM and Tuesday and Thursday 8 AM to 7 PM.

• Answer phones and take messages.
• Run office-related errands.
• Provide brief information about the program as requested.
• Assist in creating flyers, newsletters, etc.
• Assist with database entry as needed.
• Monitor the use of the computer lab and troubleshoot printing issues.
• Ensure that the lab is only utilized by current, active participants.
• Report computers in need of repair to the supervisor.
• Observe and report malfunctions and supply shortages.
• Ensure the lab is secured at closing.
• Maintain the general security of the lab equipment and the environment in the lab, including enforcement of policies and procedures.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Applicant must be a currently enrolled student at the University of Montevallo.
• Excellent customer service skills are a must.
• Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Products, including Excel and Publisher.
• TRIO SSS participants and technically savvy individuals will receive priority.
