Sort, deliver, and box mail and packages.
EssentialJob Duties
- Retrieve and deliver mail from and to the city post office.
- Sort and prepare mail to put in PO Boxes.
- Run campus mail route to selected University offices; retrieving outgoing and delivering incoming mail.
- Weigh and apply appropriate postage to outgoing mail daily.
- Perform light cleaning and organizing duties in Post Office and mail delivery vehicle.
- Sell stamps and be able to make change.
- Make sure appropriate amount of stamps is applied to outgoing mail.
- Distribute Post Office box combinations to new and returning students.
- Help customers with mailboxes and mailing questions.
- Sign for packages.
- Distribute packages to correct recipients.
- Reconcile stamp/cash drawer.
- Perform light filing alphabetically and numerically.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- A driver's license with a good driving record is a plus.
- Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to briefly tolerate outdoor weather (i.e., rain, cold, heat, etc.).
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to learn to operate postage meter.
- Ability to work independently and stay on task and schedule.
- Knowledge of basic postage procedures preferred.
- Knowledge of University Departments and their locations preferred.
- Ability to read and sort mail packages by department and box number.
- Ability to follow Post Office procedures and make rational decisions.
- Valid driver's license. Meet the successful completion of a MVR check.
