General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers courteously, maintains a clean work area, presents merchandise properly, and follows all company best‑practice standards. The Associate is engaged in all assigned tasks during working hours and may perform additional tasks as needed to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Practice safe behaviors; safety is the number one priority.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor and keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions to store leadership.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly hello and thank you.
  • Assist customers at the register, answer questions, and provide prompt, courteous service.
  • Respond to customer service calls immediately and handle issues courteously; involve store leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas).
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Execute daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandize items per monthly guidelines.
  • Understand the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty; safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card and merchandise data.
  • Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, including identifying and processing MOS merchandise and notifying leadership for disposals.
  • Follow all cash, check, charge card, refund, void and offline procedures; handle tender accurately.
  • Show a sense of urgency and maximize productivity per store best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Communicate friendly, respectful, and pleasantly with customers, associates, and store leadership.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations common in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of the work time.
  • Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
