The Athletics Department is accepting applications for a part-time Gameday Basketball Shot Clock Operator.
Auburn University at Montgomery reserves the right once interviewing has begun to stop accepting applications. Based on funding source, applicant cannot be or become an AUM student while working in this position.
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour

ResponsibilitiesThe qualified candidate selected for this position will assist in the following capacities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will serve as shot clock operator for all preseason, regular season and postseason men’s and women’s basketball home contests as scheduled.
- Will comply with all NCAA Division II and Gulf South Conference rules, regulations and policies.
- Will interact professionally with all officials, coaches, student-athletes, University personnel and spectators attending the games.
ComebeapartoftheAUMWarhawksgamemanagement team and enhance the experience of thegameday atmosphereatAUMAthleticsevents.
Requirements:Serveasshot-clock operator for all preseason, regular season and postseason men’s and women’s basketball home contests. ComplywithallNCAADIIandGSCbasketballrules, regulationsandpolicies,aslistedbelow.
1.Usea
30-secondshotclock.
2.Usetheshotclockfortheentiregame,including overtime(s),except when there is less time remaining on the game clock than in a shot-clock period, in which case the shot-clock display shall not display.
3.Controlaseparatetimingdevicewithahornthatshallhave asound that is distinct and different from that of the game-clock horn.
4.Haveanalternatetimingdeviceavailable.
5.Starttheshotclockwhen:aAninboundsplayerlegallytouchestheballafterthethrow-in hasbeen released; b.Ateamgainsinitialcontrolfollowingajumpballor unsuccessfultryfor goal; orc.
Thereisachangeinteamcontrol.
6.Stopthetimingdeviceand:a.Noresetwhenplayisstoppedunderthefollowing circumstances:
1.Theballisdeflectedorcausedtobeoutofboundsbya defensive player;
2.Aplayerisinjuredorlosesacontactlens;3.Achargedorelectronic-mediatimeouthasconcluded;
4.Duringteamcontrolasdefinedby
Rule4-8,adefensive player causes a held ball and the alternating-possession arrow favors the offense;
5.Afteranydoublepersonalfouls,simultaneous personal fouls,orfouls with penalties of equal gravity when there is team control, unless the penalty for the foul results in a change of team control;
6.Afteraninadvertentwhistlewhenthereisteamcontrolas defined in Rule 4-8 or following an unsuccessful try that does not strike the ring or flange and the alternating-possession arrow favors the shooting team;
7.Afteranyadministrativetechnfoul(s) isassessedtothe teamin control of the ball, or to the team entitled to the ball before it is at the disposal of the thrower-in, or to the bench personnel or followers of that team;
8.Afterasimultaneousheldballasdescribedin
Rule6-4.2 occurs during a throw-in or after an unsuccessful try that does not contact the ring or flange and the alternating-possession arrow favors the shooting team; and
9.Aftertheballgoesoutofboundsandwaslasttouched simultaneouslybytwoopponents,
bothofwhomareeitherinboundsoroutofbounds,orwhenthereisdoubtastowholast
touchedtheball.
Note:
Theoffensiveteam,uponbeingawardedtheballforthe throw-in, shall have the unexpired time on the shot clock to attempt a try.
Note 1:
Themeretouchingoftheballbyanopponentdoesnot startanew shot-clock period when the same team remains in control of the ball during loose-ball situations.
Note 2:
When team control is reestablished in the shooting team's backcourt following a try that does not strike the ring or flange, the shot clock is not reset.
