Salary Information:
Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations.

Nature of Work:
The fundamental reason this job exists is to identify and monitor offenders placed into community corrections programs, monitor and track the population of the Montgomery County Detention Facility, and to secure alternative releases for targeted populations. The essential functions are:

The Community Corrections Officer reports directly to the Assistant Director of Community Corrections.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, criminal justice, criminology, counseling, psychology, sociology or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. One year of offender case management experience working in an attorney’s, judge’s office or sheriff’s office, correctional facility, probation or Community Corrections department, or other qualifying court-related experience. Preference may be given to qualified applicants who are currently APOSTC certified.

Must have a valid Alabama Driver’s License or have the ability to acquire one at the time of employment.
NOTE: Hired employees in this position must enter the first available class to obtain APOST Peace Officer Certification. For those who are not APOST certified, continued employment is contingent upon obtaining the APOST Certification.
