Employees in this class perform entry-level work in enforcing City codes related to deteriorated structures, unsanitary conditions, and other property maintenance issues affecting public health and safety. Employees receive training and perform routine inspections with guidance from higher-level inspectors when cases involve complex conditions or enforcement actions.

The work responsibilities include conducting basic interior and exterior inspections, reviewing lots and parcels for routine compliance issues, documenting violations, and assisting with preliminary steps related to nuisance or weed abatement. Employees may support higher-level inspectors by gathering information, preparing inspection notes, and accompanying them on more difficult cases. Additional duties may be assigned as part of ongoing development. Work is reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to departmental standards by the Assistant Chief Property Maintenance Inspector or a higher-level inspector.

This position reports to the Assistant Chief Property Maintenance Inspector.
