SummaryAs a Patient Registration Specialist, you will be responsible for pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification, referral to financial counseling, and point of service collections. You will ensure that data gathered and entered into the computer system(s) of patient demographic and benefit information is accurate, verify benefits eligibility and limitations, coordinate benefits, and determine and collect the patient's financial responsibility at the point of service.
You will also maintain an understanding of regulatory requirements, including medical necessity determination, Medicare Secondary Payer coordination, Important Message from Medicare issuance, HIPAA, and EMTALA.
High school graduate or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred. Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable. At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred. Training experience a plus. Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
License / CertificationNone
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
